They left camp at 3:40 a.m., headlamps bobbing like fireflies on the ridge. The air was thin and sharp; every step felt twice as heavy as the last. Priya counted breaths instead of meters: in, step, out, step. At 6:15 the sky turned from ink to violet, then to gold. When she finally reached the summit, she didn't cheer. She simply sat on a cold rock, looked across a sea of clouds, and laughed until her eyes watered.
