Story typing test

Type a short story from start to finish. Stories have a natural rhythm, so they feel less like a drill and more like reading out loud with your fingers.

Medium · 83 words

The Lighthouse Keeper

Start typing when ready
Every evening at six, Elena climbed the hundred and twelve steps of the old lighthouse. She counted them out loud, the way her grandfather had taught her. At the top she wiped the salt from the glass, checked the lamp, and wrote one line in the logbook. Most nights the line said only, "Calm sea, clear sky." But on the night of the storm she wrote three pages, and in the morning a fishing boat with five tired sailors found its way home.

Why type stories?

A story typing test mixes everyday words, dialogue, names and punctuation. It is closer to real writing than random words, and much more fun to finish.

Good for every level

Easy stories use short words and simple sentences. Hard stories add quotes, numbers and longer sentences.

Build endurance

Each story takes one to two minutes. Type three in a row to train focus for longer exams.
