The Night Train

Start typing when ready
The night train left the city at ten past eleven. Maya pressed her face to the window and watched the lights shrink into tiny dots. Somewhere behind her a baby laughed, a man snored, and a conductor whistled softly as he checked tickets. By two in the morning the train was crossing a bridge over a silver river. Maya could not sleep. She did not want to miss a single mile of the journey to her new home.
